CAMPBELL RIVER AND NORTH ISLAND TRANSITION SOCIETY

about

Our Mission

The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society works, with a feminist perspective, to achieve a balance of power in society. We provide safe shelter and access to community based resources for women and children.

About Our Organization

Since 1985, the Campbell River and North Island Transition Society has provided services for women with or without children who are fleeing violence, impacted by homelessness, mental health challenges and/or substance misuse.

CRNITS provides supports that empower women to stop the generational cycle of abuse for themselves, and their children, while they work toward the change needed to create a better future.

The Society assists women who are fleeing abuse and seeking emergency shelter at the Ann Elmore Transition House, or at one or our safe homes in remote locations. Our counselling services benefit women who are overcoming trauma and other challenges, while our residential recovery program addresses substance misuse issues. Women who are unsheltered or struggling through poverty benefit from our residential personal change program and from supportive resources and poverty relief available at our drop-in center.

Do you know we have unsheltered senior women in our community? More than 60 per cent of women accessing the drop-in center are over 50years old and are living in poverty, are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Soon, construction will begin on our new endeavor, Eagle Harbour, which will provide subsidized second stage housing and permanent housing, with a focus on senior women. With this addition we will be offering women, with or without children, a continuum of support and safe housing options. For more than 30 years CRNITS has worked to improve and implement new services directly related to the issues of violence against women. Our services provide immediate response for those in imminent danger, and longer-term response for those working to heal the effects of violence and abuse.

Together, with your help, we can continue to provide programs and services to women, children and the community.
